What providers deliver at Sibley Memorial Hospital?

A wide range of obstetricians deliver babies at Sibley. If you need help finding an OB, please call their physician referral line at 855-JHM-3939, or contact one of the providers listed on their website. If you need help choosing a provider several of doulas are familiar with their providers and can provide expert recommendations. Will I need a COVID-19 test upon admission?

Each laboring mother who is admitted for delivery will receive a rapid COVID-19 test. If you are COVID-19 positive, the care team will follow their COVID-19 protocol to ensure the safest delivery. Click here to read the protocols.

If I go into labor, where do I enter the hospital?

Patients should call their OB provider prior to going to the hospital to be admitted. Patients can enter Sibley through the main entrance at Building A or Building B; all patients and visitors will be screened for symptoms. From there, the patients should go directly to Labor and Delivery on the 3rd floor of Building B, where you will be admitted.

What is the visitor policy when I deliver?

In order to protect our patients, visitors and staff from the spread of COVID-19, there is an updated visitor policy for the Johns Hopkins Health System that was enacted on March 30, 2020, and continues until further notice. Currently, no visitors will be permitted except under specific circumstances to include Labor and Delivery and the Special Care Nursery.

• For Labor and Delivery: No visitors are allowed in the operating room. One visitor in Labor and Delivery (without reentry in labor) and post-partum is permitted.

• For the Special Care Nursery: Two designated caregivers per patient are permitted.

• All visitors must also follow the following process for the safety of staff and other patients: » Visitors will be screened for fever, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, sore throat or an unexplained loss of taste or smell and will not be able to stay if symptomatic.

Is my doula allowed inside the hospital with me?

You have the option to have your doula or your partner during your labor and delivery. If you desire to have one of our doulas support you, we will enter and remain with you throughout labor and delivery and up to two hours postpartum.

Should I still hire a doula even if I choose my partner as a support person?

Absolutely! During this time of uncertainty, our doula agency has made drastic changes to ensure families still have access to doula support and provide alternative options to help you make the best of this experience.
