We’re bringing something new to the table – a full service doula agency with the ability to serve more clients in a larger service area where black doulas are often hard to locate and offering a broader range of services. It’s understandable that people would have doubt about the perks of hiring a doula agency instead of a solo doula practice. Can we really deliver the personalized care of a smaller company?

The truth is, YES! ​1: More reliable service Wait, what? That’s right – a bigger agency doesn’t mean you get treated like a number. A bigger agency means we always have someone available to take your call. You’ll never have to wait for a call back because your doula is at a birth or unavailable. Because we have team of doulas there is always a back-up doula available just in case something happens that makes your doula unable to attend your birth or see you for your postpartum support. Fortunately these things are rare, but just in case, its not something you have to worry about.

2: Certified and Insured: We're a doula agency and we have a lot to lose Because of this, we require our Doulas, Registered Nurses, Newborn Care Specialists, and Lactation Consultants to be CPR Certified, Certified as a doula through an accredited Training Program, and obtain doula insurance.

3: Collaboration: Birth comes in many forms. We serve all women and families and support all types of births included but not limited to hospitals, birth centers, and home births. Our main purpose is to empower you and much of that comes from knowledge and confidence. If you pose a question or a situation arises that your doula doesn't know the answer to, she has the whole team at her fingertips to ask for guidance

4: Specializing in support for African-American Women: DMV Birth Doulas, LLC was established and formed to be an informative resource within the community to help fight against the black maternal-infant mortality rates, the use of unnecessary medical interventions and avoid traumatic birth experiences. We are the first known agency in Baltimore, to specialize in offering support to women of color and their families during fertility, labor, and birth. We offer grants and financial support to women of color desiring doula services but is unable to pay the costs in-full.

5: Professional Team Work: As an agency we hold to high standards as we should. Our doulas represent not only themselves, but all the other members of the team as well. We stand for respectful, evidence based care and support and we have the opportunity to make a difference in our community as a unit.

6: Continuity of Services: Because we are a full service doula agency, you can book all your birth services with us. We offer childbirth and breastfeeding classes, placenta encapsulation and postpartum belly binding. If we don't offer a service you are interested in, we can refer you to another trusted professional.
