The Birth Place at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore has one of the lowest c-section rates, compared to other local hospitals in the area. Sinai Hospital is a regionally recognized high-risk maternity hospital with 2,600 deliveries annually. There are over 900 high-risk obstetric admissions annually, yet the prenatal mortality rate is below the national average.
The BirthPlace at Sinai, housed in the Blaustein Women's and Children's Building, has seven spacious, upgraded labor-delivery-recovery suites, and two operating rooms for cesarean births. One of the most advanced birthing centers in Maryland.
The Hospital Birth Center is staffed 24-7 with highly skilled doctors, midwives, nurses, pediatricians, and neonatologists. They support medicated and unmedicated births with the use of birth pools, high risk pregnancies and deliveries. Delayed cord clamping, delay /decline of newborn procedures, and placenta removal are all supported. As of December 14, 2020, Doulas are welcomed at The Birth Place along with one other support person (partner). They offer a host of amenities including Private Labor-Delivery Rooms, in-room laboring pool and shower,
Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is a Level IIII NICU, staffed 24/7 with neonatologists, pediatricians, and highly skilled NICU nurses. Their website says "Sinai's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is one of only seven regional referral centers in Maryland".
The hospital provides prenatal classes on childbirth, breastfeeding, and infant care.
